Job Description

The COO will oversee the organization’s ongoing operations and procedures and will be responsible for the strategy of the business and Business Development. The COO role is a key member of the Executive Management team – will maintain control of diverse business operations and has to be an experienced and efficient leader with excellent people skills, business acumen and exemplary work ethic.

Job Description/Requirements

Business Development

Provide leadership to the diverse teams of associates in driving client acquisition, building healthy loan portfolios and ensuring compliance with KYC and SCUML requirements

Create preventive measures to ensure all client-related issues are promptly identified and resolved

Build a pipeline to ensure a steady deal flow, based on a data-driven assessment of target sectors

Lead internal debt recovery efforts as required from time to time and provide the required support for services providers engaged to recover such debts (bad or delinquent)

Develop architecture for digital sales and marketing

Provide the required leadership to meet customer needs

Develop strategies with a view of leading the organization to its mid and long term goals and profitability.

Operations Efficiency

Oversee all business and financial operations, including P&L management, loan origination, disbursement, collection, including the preparation of required periodic reports on disbursement, repayment and loan performance

Design, implement and manage a cohesive financial and operational strategy and ensure operational efficiency.

Manage all strategic business operations including the development and adoption of best practices and policies and procedures

Oversee internal and outsourced accounting, finance, compliance, legal functions and ensure compliance with all relevant regulations and guidelines.

Oversee all information security processes

Works with relevant teams to develop various tech framework and platforms necessary to drive retail lending


Bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting, statistics, mathematics, engineering, investment or a related discipline

MBA and/or equivalent will be an added advantage

5-10 years Fintech/MFB/banking operations experience

Ability to understand and execute strategy

Demonstrated team management experience

Demonstrated budget management and financial forecasting experience

Knowledge of product commercialization and revenue management

Previous experience with a startup is an added advantage

Passionate and with Entrepreneurial acumen

NB; This position is open to local and international candidates. The potential candidate must be willing to relocate to Lagos, Nigeria within a short period and must be able to travel.
