  • Reporting to the Group Chief Executive Officer, you will support with driving profitability and meeting performance targets by developing the tactics and business plans necessary to realizing revenue, earnings growth and increase in shareholders’ value.
  • Direct responsibility for the strategy, profitability, performance and growth of the Investment Banking business.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

STRATEGY

  • Establish and execute the company’s short to long term strategy in line with the Board’s appetite.
  • Develop strategic plans for the Investment Banking division while achieving the goals of the company on the whole
  • Overall responsibility for business origination
  • Responsible for the overall revenue generation of the division
  • Contribution to revenue and business development of other business
  • Oversee quality transaction execution and client satisfaction
  • Implementation of strategic action plans
  • Implement systems, periodic review and controls of all investment activities within the business.
  • Proactive management of counterparty and correspondent investment relationships.
  • Provide effective leadership to the management and the employees and establishes an effective means of control and co-ordination for all operations and activities.
  • Report to the board on market insights and strategic advice.
  • Maintaining positive and trust-based relations with business partners, shareholders, and authorities.
  • Overseeing the company’s business operations, financial performance, investments, and ventures.
  • Administer a workable policy that maintains the investment safety and soundness of client’s portfolio.
  • Build and enhance the company’s public profile at events, speaking engagements, etc.

PROJECT FINANCE & ADVISORY

  • Lead the development of pipeline of medium to long-term projects using an off-balance sheet financing structure.
  • Source and screen investment opportunities through client outreach, marketing and deal screening.
  • Assess and structure transactions to maximize the potential for commercial financing and catalyzing of additional sources of capital.
  • Lead and facilitate active relationships with commercial lenders and other financial partners, as well as with developers, investors and governments.
  • Ensure that necessary due diligence, financial modeling, risk analysis and mitigation are in place in the structuring of loans, equity investments, guarantees, etc.
  • Keep the Board fully informed on all aspects of the Company’s operational and financial affairs, and on all matters of significant relevance to the Company. This includes external items emanating from Government and Regulator on issues such as fiscal and monetary policies, legislation, etc.
  • Lead the internal approvals process including interface with credit, safeguards, integrity, legal and other teams as well as management and the Board.
  • Develop and maintain a sound, effective organizational structure, ensures capable management succession, progressive employee training and developmental programs, whilst reporting regularly to the Board on these matters including officers’ performance.
  • Develop annual capital commitment and capital expenditure budgets for approval by the Board
  • Enforcement of governance and control standards across the business
  • Zero regulatory infractions
  • Ensure all deals have the appropriate legal documentation and successfully concluded (with the support of internal and external counsel) in line with required approvals and that financial close is achieved in a timely fashion.
  • Ensure compliance with all regulatory reporting bodies.
  • Ensure adherence to quality standards as agreed within the Group.

CORPORATE GOVERNANCE

Requirements

− BA/BSc. required; MBA, CFA or other advanced degrees/credentials desirable.

− 15+ years of relevant investment banking experience, with a minimum, of 3 to 4 years in Executive Management is required.

− Track record of originating, executing, and closing transactions in an advisory capacity.

− Track record of maintaining client relationships in viable sectors as well as sourcing and closing transactions

− Track record in Project & Structured Trade Finance

− Overview of Africa’s Investment Banking business landscape − Capital raising experience in public equity markets required.− Strong accounting and financial analysis skills with attention to detail − Proven track record in business development and deal origination − Strong deal diligence, execution, negotiation and closing skills − Strong team orientation and ability to train and mentor
