About Company: Our client is the Chemical manufacturing and distribution division of a global Conglomerate with over 9000 employees in Nigeria and operations in Africa, Asia and Europe.
The Company’s Chemical division has over 800 employees and two production sites as well as several distribution networks across in Nigeria. The Company is a leading provider of paint chemicals (e.g. styrene acrylic), adhesives (casein glue, white glue etc.), hygiene chemicals (disinfectants, caustic soda etc.), and consumer chemicals (detergents, liquid dish wash, textile care etc.).
Job Objective: This role has the commercial responsibility for a portfolio of raw materials being sold to local manufacturers, particularly in the personal and home care industry. The range of products includes fragrances, SLES, EDTA, SLS, optical brighteners, preservatives, waxes, and others. However, ideally the Sales Manager should also have experience in selling chemicals in areas of bio-security (agriculture), paint, oil lubricant additives, and other specialty chemicals.
§ Market Analysis: Constant observation of market trends, product availability in the market, price levels and activities of the competition.
§ Increase of Customer Base: Identification of potential customers, assessment of market potential, approach of potential customers, and establishing of commercial relationships in the relevant industries of personal & home care producers, cosmetics & perfume producers and other relevant areas.
§ Direct Sales and Order Generation: Sales of products through direct and regular interaction with customers to achieve and exceed pre-agreed monthly sales budget.
§ Technical Support: Provision of technical trainings to customers and staff, advisory on formulations and production processes, introduction of product innovations.
§ Introduction of New Products: Identification of new product opportunities for import (new agencies) and for local production at the company’s local manufacturing and production site.
§ Management of Principals: Interaction with international partners that the company represents locally, including agreements on annual budgets, product introductions and technical support.
§ Import: Observation of stock levels and reordering points, price negotiations and tracking of product importation.
§ Team Management: Growth of current team from 4 reps to 8-12 reps whilst maintaining and increasing professional sales approach, sales management, reporting and career development for team members.
§ First degree in Chemistry, Microbiology or related subject
§ Master will be an added advantage
§ 10+ years of experience in specialty chemicals, ideally exposures in different industries (personal & home care, paint, lubricants etc.), and also past exposure in production, product development / R&D.
§ Strong market experience in Nigeria, experience in other West African markets is a plus
§ Base Salary is N1,000,000.00 monthly net (Negotiable)
