The Organization of Women in International Trade (OWIT) Nigeria is offering volunteering opportunity to a young female Nigerian. The volunteer opening is unpaid and part-time, i.e. a volunteer is expected to work 8 hours a day, three days per week.

Job Description/Requirements

Volunteering responsibilities may include, but are not limited to:

  • supporting grant search that facilitates the internationalization of women owned small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) in Nigeria;
  • compiling and analyzing data and other information necessary for the preparation of technical proposals in the area of trade and gender.
  • Preparing briefing notes, inputs to speeches, powerpoint presentations, and other material on trade, gender and development;
  • developing analytical studies on gender issues and policies related to gender equality and women’s economic empowerment;
  • participating in organizational meetings, seminars, workshops, etc.
  • performing other related duties as required, necessary for advancing the mandate of the organization.


The competencies required for this volunteering position are :

  • Ability to contribute to research on trade and development topics, especially trade and gender.
  • Works collaboratively with colleagues and line managers to achieve organizational goals
  • Speaks and writes clearly and effectively in English language (French will be an added advantage)


Applicant must meet all of the following requirements:

  • University degree or equivalent, or higher in Social sciences, Development Studies, International Relations and other relevant courses
  • Be computer literate in standard software applications
  • Have a demonstrated keen interest in the work of gender, trade and investment.
